Joe Wilson has had the holy tar beat out of him since the middle of last week and he is still standing, bruised, maligned, cross eyed, smiling, healthy, and sitting pretty on top of an ever expanding war chest.
Who says honesty doesn’t pay even if you have to say your sorry?
Who would have guessed that mischievously blurting out “You lie,” to the POTUS in front of his colleagues on Prime Time TV would reap the kind of financial windfall and MSM outrage that Ol’ Joe has experienced these past 8-9 days. Ol’Joe has gone from being a back bencher to being a conservative shouter who said 2 simple words “YOU LIE.” A majority of people in this country have been waiting for someone with “a little power” to say those 2 words for a long, long time.
I bet there are conservatives up on the hill and probably some blue dog democrats who are kicking themselves for saying…
“my esteemed colleague must be confused or is simply exaggerating the facts of the issue before this body today.”
Instead of saying “You know ya’ll are lying. Quit wasting my time, I am too busy for this nonsense and America deserves better.”
Years ago Tip O’Neil, the Speaker from Massachusetts made famous the line, “all politics is local.” He was so right. If Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi, Chris Dodd, Barbara Boxer, Pete Conrad, Charlie Rangel, Charlie Schumer, and Maxine Waters who happen to be all Democrats My blog-I can pick anyone I want can stay in office, term after term, with their politically and repulsive positions on domestic and foreign issues and lie through their teeth as though their political life depended on it, wait, it does,
then good Ol’ Joe Wilson should never worry one breath for saying “You lie,” the rest of his political life. His constituents have made him their voice and are selling their pickups and giving the cash to his campaign.
I say represent your district in an honorable way, your constituents in an honest way, keep your trousers on, and don’t embarrass us when you go out of town. Say what you mean and mean what you say, and by dog, act like you got some sense when no one is watching, and you to can have a long and illustrious political life.
