Common Sense is in Short Supply in this Country

Teacher and kids 300x300 Common Sense is in Short Supply in this Country

Apparently the school systems in this country have taken leave of their collective common sense.  They have checked it at the door and put the “Don’t blame me I am stupid” hat on when they make the rules the districts are governed by.

I understand the pressure teachers and districts are under to perform and keep the peace in the school.

Great article by James Ragland explores the stupidity and lack of rational thinking that has infected so many districts in our country today.

The general thinking is that our schools are under performing and under serving our children today.  That can be said of the parents also.  I believe the parents are under performing as custodians over their children. They are not placing the kind of expectation on their children for them to succeed later in life.

That being said, I believe it is imperative that districts have the highest expectations from their charges to succeed.  Unequivocally, without great expectations there is great failure.  The leaders in the districts should have great expectation placed upon them by the parents and the communities they serve.  One expectation that has a failing grade is Common Sense.

If a kid has problems in school, that is, he or she is the problem, then you have history on this child as a trouble maker i.e. bad grades, poor discipline, tardiness, classroom troublemaker, etc… This is the kid that you have zero tolerance for when he shows up with a “weapon.” He or she is suspended from school upon review.

If a kid who is rarely absent, if at all, not known as a troublemaker, does his homework, respects teachers and peers alike and happens to show up with a 2″ knife in a first aid kit locked in the trunk of his car and carries it around for emergencies because he is a prepared EAGLE SCOUT, USE SOME COMMON SENSE you bunch of idiots!!! There is no intent to do harm.

A kid can go out in the playground and pick up a rock and bash another kids head with it over some sort of dispute.  Does that mean we take every rock within 500 yards of the school and toss them in a dumpster somewhere because they can be used as a weapon.

Why have the “educated minds” in this country resolved themselves to idiocy. Research each kid that causes a problem and act upon your findings.  Don’t go around blindly disbursing punishment because some rulebook says “take no prisoners.”

Use some common sense! Sheesh!
