The arrogance of the Obama administration and the refusal of Democrats to listen to their constituency has the distinct odor of death warmed over. There are some things you just don’t ignore about the electorate.
- Ostracize your constituency.
- Ignore the ones who brought you to the dance.
- Hold the electorate in contempt and ignore their plea of finacial restraint and accountability.
All of these unspeakable ”sins” have been in full bloom for the past 14 months without regard to the long term consequences. Treating the constituency with total disregard, and disrespect will bring out a tsunami of voters in November.
Obama believes that government implemented health care is good for all people, not just those without health care. For Obama and the Democrats to manhandle health care from the private sector, causes one to ask,”how long will it be before Obama’s arrogant style of governing takes over ownership of utilities, housing sector, etc..
Obama’s arrogant disregard for public opinion is a new style of governing for the American people. Granted, it is a style that will never last for more than four years in regards to the Presidency. Voters will not tolerate this approach to governing.
Jill Lawrence with Politics Daily had this observation in her post today.
Why would President Obama and his party press onward to pass a landmark health bill in the face of polls that suggest it’s risky to do so? Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell calls it “stunning” and says they are projecting arrogance. “Every election in America this fall will be a referendum on this issue,” McConnell says.
She went on to say…
Edmund Burke, the member of Parliament who in 1774 offered a classic definition of his role. He said he would give great weight to his constituents’ wishes, high respect to their opinions and “unremitted attention” to their business, but would not abandon his conscience or independence: “Your representative owes you, not his industry only, but his judgment; and he betrays, instead of serving you, if he sacrifices it to your opinion.”
Paraphrasing another part of Jill Lawrence’s article that said, “flouting public opinion on civil rights and disregarding public opinion about getting out of Iraq has been a constant in politics.
The difference this time is the American people do not want the US government dictating to them that they have to “purchase” a product or service from the government or be held in contempt of the law and be fined or jailed for this “crime.”
History has proven that underdogs have at times beaten the odds and carried the day with a victory. Here is a tip from a political bookie..
Bet on the underdogs in November-it is a sure thing.
