Life is unfair is a statement I hear all the time. I hear my kids say when something doesn’t go their way, I hear,”that’s not fair.”
I always tell them that there is only one fair and it comes to town in the fall. Of course that does not go over very well with them. It is true and it is unarguable. Life is not fair.
I feel certain if I said that to a liberal, it would not sit very well with some of them. Most likely the come back would be with obscenities and name calling and how despicable and heartless I am. Other times it may just be a normal debate as we listen to each other’s side.
Isn’t this what health care is all about? The unfairness of life. The unfairness of a system that leaves out so many people. Forget that the system is open to everyone(who can afford it-another liberal argument). I know people are going to say,” how is it fair if someone has a pre-existing condition and can’t get healthcare?” “How is fair if premiums are so high that I can’t afford them?”
The scenarios are endless.
In our state, if someone does not have healthcare they go on medicaid which is paid for by taxpayers one way or the other.
The deal is this. If you have hospital stays and are chronically in an out of a health care facility(s) then Medicaid pays for it. The catch is, when you die, medicaid can step in and take assets that you may have and sell them to recoup some of the cost for taking care of you in your remaining years.
Conservatives I know are more than happy to help those who can’t help themselves. These are the destitute, mentally ill, those incapable of even washing dishes for a living. I can’t help them forever but I will find them help through the government.
The rub is I don’t want the government telling me that I have to go under the auspices of a government run health care plan. Our government has proven that they could not run the only hot dog stand in Manhattan without incurring a loss every day it is open.
If we are forced into this health care reform plan, then I will scream.
UNFAIR!
