President Obama signed the Pay as you go bill the Democrats initiated back in February to show the American public they understand out of control spending and will abide by new spending restraints with a “pay as you go” approach . Obama mentioned it in his radio address on Saturday Feb. 15th. stating that this was a positive step in the right direction as we contemplate our spending and funding of programs.
The Democrats are playing pure politics with this pay go bill and using it against Jim Bunning from Kentucky, and the Republicans, demonstrating to America how heartless the Republicans are. Jim Bunning is taking a positive step toward the PayGo bill and is being shot at from the Democrats as though he was the first 10 point buck seen on opening day of deer season.
The bill represents several spending initiatives with one initiative being an extension on unemployment claims for people who have been out of work for a year or more.
from the Heritage blog story…
Bunningsaid of the bill “if we can’t find $10 billion to pay for it, we’re not going to pay for anything.” A monthago, Congress passed something called pay-as-you-go (PAYGO) budgeting when they increased the the statutory limit of allowable national debt to $14.29 trillion, a $1.9 trillion increase. The current PAYGO rules are loaded with exceptions and loopholes, yet many saw the new PAYGO rules as a step in the right direction to restrain some out of control spending. The problem is that Congress seems to waive the PAYGO rule rather than offset one cent of new spending.
Congress has proven time and again that they are not serious about the problems this country faces. If Congress was serious about the PayGo policy then they should courageously apply it to health care reform that Obama is pushing so fervently and any other program that Obama intiates during his 1 and only term.
Pay Go bill means absolutely nothing with out application.
Congress knows this, they wrote the book of Deceptive Practices and Implementation.
